Saffron Attar

Saffron Attar is a botanical, single note perfume prepared through hydro-distillation of saffron extract. It is also popular as Kesar or Zafrani Attar and has an astringent quality, thus widely used for medicinal purposes and aromatherapy. Appreciated for its unique aroma and rich medicinal properties, in some cultures it is believed that Saffron brings blessings and prosperity to the one who wears it.

Saffron Attar has a deep yellow color and a characteristic fragrance which is both sweet and spicy. The main constituents of Saffron Attar are safranal, picrocrocin and crocin. Safranal is responsible for the sweet fragrance while picrocrocin lends the spicy notes. Crocin gives Saffron Attar its characteristic yellow color.

Saffron Attar is used in hair oils, soaps, perfumes and cosmetics due to its pleasing fragrance. It is also used in Ayurvedic and Unani medicine for its various therapeutic properties. Saffron Attar has antidepressant, antispasmodic, carminative, digestive, cathartic, diuretic, expectorant, stimulant, sedative and tonic properties. It is helpful in treating anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress and stomach disorders.

Saffron Attar can be used diluted in a carrier oil for massages or added to bath water for a relaxing bath. It can also be used in diffusers or vaporizers to spread its pleasant fragrance in the environment.
